Santa Fe photographer and printmaker Ford Robbins has been creating abstract visual imagery of the light, texture, mood, mystery, magic and spirit of contemporary New Mexico and American landscape for over 35 years. Robbins also maintains a commercial photographic practice providing film, digital, retouching, restoration and pre-press services to artists, writers, publishers, galleries, museums and the general public. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers. Robbins has exhibited extensively since 1983, most recently at the New Mexico History Museum, Palace of the Governors, Santa Fe; the Albuquerque Museum of Art & Culture; the Miller Museum of Art, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and the Harwood Museum, Taos, New Mexico; as well as at numerous venues in Santa Fe, greater New Mexico and throughout the United States. He was honored by the selection of his work for inclusion in an exhibition of American landscape photography at the United States embassies in Asunción, Paraguay, and Muscat, Oman. The Legislature of the State of New Mexico has recognized Mr. Robbins with the inclusion of his work in the New Mexico State Capitol Art Collection. His work is also included in numerous private, museum, corporate, religious, and public collections. In September, 2009, Red Mountain Press released Robbins' first book of photographs, Connections A Visual Journal. My very best wishes to you for a prosperous and sane 2012. My hope for this election year is that we have an issue-driven campaign free of demagoguery and denigration. Surely we are better than "campaigns-as-usual". Photography and printmaking continue to be my deep passions. I am in the midst of experimentation to move some of my images from silver to ink through the photopolymer grauvure process. To learn more about the process and see preliminary work, Click Here. This website has had a major overhaul. I have divided the presentation of work into Folios and Galleries. The Folios are sets of 5 to 8 images each presented as a body and available for purchase as an individual group. The Galleries will present work currently on exhibition, recent commissions and installations, or experiments and investigations. Images from "Connections: A Visual Journal" are presented separately, here. Gallery 1 displays the imagery on the walls at the Johnsons Galleries in Ford Robbins: Photographs & Prints. Gallery 2 displays images recently installed at the Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico, Albuquerque, under a grant from the State of New Mexico, Department of Cultural Affairs, Art in Public Places Program. The imagery will change periodically so make a point to revisit to see what's new. Please Note: My studio is usually open daily. Call First. If you are visiting Santa Fe, please give us a call. We would love to visit with you. |
